Whitney
R. White
Senior Associate
After working on the Clinton-Gore Advance team during the first
term campaign, Whitney R. White went on to serve the White House
for four years working to develop public support for administration
policies. This work afforded the opportunity to work closely
with major news bureaus and agencies, in the coverage and production
of major policy events.
After
the 1996 re-election, Mr. White accepted a position as a liaison
at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. While
at HUD, he worked closely with the Secretary on policy and public
relations issues, keeping the Secretary informed of domestic,
international, and interagency policies, programs, and strategy.
This work allowed Mr. White to develop a firm understanding
of the congressional budget process, bill drafting, and legislative
issue management, as well as international, state, county, and
city policy and funding models and mechanisms.
Mr.
White left government to take a position with then-candidate
for the U.S. Senate, Jon Corzine, where he served as an advisor
to the future Senator and other senior campaign staffers.
After
the successful election of Senator Corzine, Mr. White returned
to the Philadelphia area to accept a position at Citigroup’s
Smith Barney financial advisory division, where he became a
Financial Advisor, registered with the Securities and Exchange
Commission, New York Stock Exchange, NASDAQ, Chicago Board of
Trade, and Philadelphia Stock Exchange. In this position he
concentrated efforts on institutional money management.
After
a few years in the position with Smith Barney, Mr. White left
to become a partner and Director of Emerging Markets at the
firm of Inventive Development, Inc. In this role, he has worked
closely with groups ranging from non-governmental agencies to
elected officials, as both a domestic and international business
development and economic advisor.
Mr.
White’s non-profit experience includes service on various
boards, such as the Housing Association of the Delaware Valley
(where he also serves the role of Economic Development Chair),
the Hong Kong Trade Council of Metro Philadelphia, the African-American
Men of the University of Pennsylvania, and the Frederick Douglass
Foundation. He also is a member of various professional and
faith-based associations.
Mr.
White is a former police officer. He has lectured at the University
of Pennsylvania and at the Democratic National Committee’s
campaign school, contributed to proprietary emergency communications
models, designed security protocols, served as director of dignitary
security for then General Colin Powell’s President’s
summit, and is the co-developer (patent pending) of a solar-power
generation technology.
